If your draws sound wet or bubbly, the device is gurgling. That usually means a small amount of e-liquid has collected in the airway or around the coil, a condition often called flooding. It is common, rarely serious, and responds well to a short rest and a gentler draw.
Why vapes gurgle
Gurgling is the sound of liquid moving where vapour should be. It builds up from over-puffing, from temperature swings that make e-liquid expand and contract, from lying flat in a pocket, and from pressure changes when travelling, which our travel guide covers. None of these mean the device is broken; they just mean there is a little too much liquid in the airflow path.
How to clear a gurgle
Set the device upright and leave it for a few minutes so the excess can settle back toward the tank. Take a few gentle purge draws with a tissue over the mouthpiece to catch any stray liquid. Soft taps against your palm can help, but avoid blowing hard into it, which can push liquid further in. A short rest after that usually restores a clean draw.

Gurgling versus leaking
People often mix these up. Gurgling is an internal wet sound with normal vapour; leaking, explained in our leak guide article, is liquid on the outside of the body. If you see liquid on your fingers or the device surface, that is a leak, not a gurgle, and the approach is a bit different.
Keeping it dry
Upright storage is the single biggest preventer, and our storage guide lays out the habit. Moderate puffs instead of long chains, and keep the device out of hot pockets or direct sun, which our weather guide article covers for cold and heat alike. A little routine care stops most gurgling before it starts.

Frequently asked questions
How should I store the device safely?
Keep it upright at room temperature, away from direct sun and heat, and out of reach of children and pets. Good storage protects battery life and avoids leaks.
What do I do with a device I no longer use?
Do not bin it. Vapes contain a lithium battery - take them to a battery recycling point or e-waste collection so the cell is handled properly.
What is a sign something is wrong?
A sudden burnt taste, leaking, or unusual heat means stop using the device. These are signs the coil or battery should not be pushed further.
Are nicotine vapes supplied through pharmacies?
In Australia, nicotine vaping products are a regulated therapeutic good supplied to adults through pharmacies and authorised channels under the TGA framework. Check current rules where you live.
