Nicotine Is a Regulated Therapeutic Good
In Australia, vapes (with and without nicotine) are regulated under the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989 and the Vaping Reforms Act 2024. Nicotine is addictive. Therapeutic vapes with up to 20 mg/mL nicotine can be supplied by a pharmacy without a prescription to adults aged 18 and over after a pharmacist consultation. Higher concentrations, and anyone under 18, still require a prescription. The personal importation scheme ended on 1 March 2024; all commercial imports now require an ODC licence or permit.
